Saturday

My 50th Park run to start Saturday morning. I was keen to celebrate with a high, and possibly a PB as I plodded around Brockwell Park.

Halfway up the first Cressingham climb and my calf pinged.

OUCH.

That bloody hurt.

It was more of a mild irritation to be honest. I hate the shame of not completing the course, but I thought I would limp back round to the lido first lap, and them… limp out.

But like a FOOL I became caught up in the race that isn’t a race.

I knew that hopes of a PB had long since gone, but I was determined to finish my 50th.

Knob.

Oh dear

The pain didn’t get any worse, but I wasn’t able to work it off like I could two decades ago running around Brockwell.

My final official race time of 23:44 surprised me - a top 6 finish for my vets category as well.

I caught up with Madam Pacemaker for a charming chat at the close. She of course finished as the second placed female.

Our conversation moved away from the running to the personal, and then somehow back to how running helps with the personal.

It put a smile on my face - if not my limping legs - for early Saturday morning.

The swim in the lovely lido was so so.

For some strange reason only half the pool was open. There was an optimistic sunbather sheltering from the light South London drizzle.

I cycled back to Sunny Stockwell, stopping off en route at Brixton Cycles. I picked up the crowd funder pledged cap.

Chapeau!

Plus a little Jumble Sale action over in Vauxhall.

I wasn’t tempted by the second hand underwear.

ewww.

Back in the flat I had absolute broadband bollocks. My fibre connection is now clocking 0.5 megs. I spent most of the morning on the phone to Sky.

I also pondered putting together an email template saying:

Ta for the tip off for a possible Brixton Buzz story. I plan to enjoy life for the next six months or so.

See ya!

I dithered over Dulwich mid-afternoon. The rain became heavier and I didn’t fancy a bus journey over to Transpontine del Curva.

I made the effort though, and was rewarded with a good catch up with some close friends, and a slightly disappointing 2-2 home draw for the pink ‘n’ blue boys.

Saturday evening was spent back on work shifts and fighting a piss poor modern interweb connection.
