Saturday

A five pint fuelled Colchester Park Run for 9am on Saturday morning.

Ouch.

It didn’t feel right.

No shit, Jase.

Oh dear

The route itself was a little wonky. There was some Medieval bonkers thing taking place in Lower Castle Park. This led to back lane route change.

I never really found my pace…

The official race time of 22;34″ dropped.

meh.

I was still second in my vets category.

Various tasks had to completed around town.

My haircut with my nu fave Turkish barber was decent. The best bit is the naked flame in the ears.

There. That feels better.

The search for a bank account for the South Lambeth Road company continues. Metro Bank back in Sunny Colch is now looking likely.

My final task was to buy a new pair of running shoes.

Simple, right?

I went to the specialist running shop and eyed up a pair that fitted my budget and style.

Mr Running Shoe Man kindly offered a free fitting.

I was told that the 45 minute session would involved an analysis of my running style on the treadmill, and then a bespoke fitting service.

“Free, you say?”

Yep.

Go on then.

Forty five minutes later and Mr Running Shoe Man recommended… the exact same pair of running shoes that I eyed up earlier.

The whole point of the bespoke service seemed to be sell me a customised inner sole that had been moulded around my foot.

“That will be £40 for the inner sole, Sir.”

wtf?

Are you telling me that a £115 pair of trainers need an extra £40 being spent on them?

Nu New Balance Ahoy!

I declined the inner sole, and did a runner, so to speak with the £115 trainers.

I cycled on to the gym. I have been AWOL on the weights for the past few days. My work shifts haven’t been gym friendly.

A brief GRUNTING session, and then the swim. I had the pool to myself.

GLORIOUS.

Saturday afternoon was spent in the garden. I stripped off, put on the new Weller album and drifted off.

Impossible Idea is beautiful.

I played it twice, to make sure that initial love affair with the song wasn’t a consequence of heatstroke.

It cooled down early evening and so I gave the windows a quick clean.

ROCK ‘N’ ROLL, etc.

And then BOOZE and the Champions League final to finish off the day.

Welcome to #Colchester
