The 6am double whammy of Daisy and Dotty sniffing my face, plus the bloody dawn chorus kicking in.
Country living is CRAP, Comrades.
There.
It meant that I was already plied with three cups of tea before the 7am work shift started.
I needed the stimulant - the work shift was bloody manic.
I slapped up some SCHOOL CLOSED reminders across various South London sites.
School’s out for Easter, etc.
Hurrah!
The Deserter Pubcast cheered me up with tails of the 222 to Tooting.
Arf.
As ever, listening to Deserter just makes me want to hit the BOOZE.
It was only 10am.
Whoops.
Windmills of Your Mind was the Cover to Cover with @RobertElms: Dusty Vs Noel Harrison.
Both versions are BONKERS.
Dusty did the business. It led me to downloading Dusty in Memphis, an omission from my music library that I am slightly ashamed of.
Daisy and Dotty were in a play fighting mood all morning. I can live with this. It tires them out after an hour or so, and then I get some peace in the office.
Work came to a close mid-afternoon. I cycled along the Trail, filling up my nostrils with the scent of spring and sewage from the Muddy Banks.
The gym was empty.
The pool had a temperature almost on par with Lake Brockwell.
You know what you are getting at the lovely lido. OF COURSE it will be cold. Your inner body calibrations are ready for this.
But the bloody Essex pool in a converted gas showroom doesn’t prepare you for a bit of a brrrrr moment.
You know what comes next: I fell asleep in sauna.
TOTP from 1983 on #BBC4 continues to be BRILLIANT.
Shalamar opened.
Shalamar were also a bit shit, apart from Jeffrey Daniel. He had no role in the group, apart from to bodypop.
And then we had Irene Kara and the theme from Flashdance.
The early summer of ’83 was when B-Boys were just starting to break through back in the Fair City.
Saturday mornings at the Ice Stadium became afternoons listening to electro at Arcade Records. And then watching the Rock City Crew in the Market Square.
It felt fresh.
I must watch Flashdance again.
Anna returned from S Ldn early evening. We celebrated with lasagne and DARTS.
I had a few more work shifts.
And then some BOOZE.
I’m buggering off to North Norfolk in the morning.
Oh Lordy
