Tuesday was all about catching up and earning. A week of running around South London schools has taken its toll. It’s also led to a bloody big backlog in editing and publishing content.
I had to turn around the SE17 content pretty sharpish. The lovely folk working on the Year 1 drama project had an important funding meeting at midday. Evidence based learning is what it’s all about, Comrades.
My tech fail with the f717 cam led me to having a slight panic at the theatre yesterday. I wasn’t sure if I had lost 300+ images or not.
I decided to sleep on it last night, rather than have a sleepless night knowing that the photos were f-ed.
The photos were f-ed.
Oh dear.
I’ve learnt to always think on your feet in these situations. I reached for my iPhone in the theatre on Monday. I made sure that I had 50 or so half decent replacement photos as a last resort back up.
I got lucky - the iPhone 7 Plus are of a higher quality than what the f717 can provide. I could quite easily use the iPhone as my main work mule, capturing video, audio, images and even words in the notes.
But I quite like the old school approach of pen and paper, and a big snapper.
But yeah - Jase got lucky.
I then tried to address what the chuff had gone wrong with the f717, and how I could work going forwards.
I tested various tech set ups for half an hour or so, replacing memory cards, batteries and even models. I deduced that it was the card that was f-ed, and not the camera. I snapped up a HUGE 8 gig replacement card online.
My experimentation also led to me testing the other b0rked f717’s that I have burned through over the years. It’s my default camera of choice. The Carl Zeiss lens is just LOVELY.
I thought that I had just the one back up model that was working. The camera has a design fault that Sony refuses to fix. I buy up new models for £40 a time on eBay whenever they get b0rked.
I was surprised to find that my fleet contains five working models, and only three that are f-ed.
Plus I’ve got the higher spec f828 that Mike Urban banged on about for me to buy. I never got to grips with it tbh…
Other work shifts pressed on. Big Client No. 1 had some particularly sticky content that went a little viral.
Busy, busy.
@RobertElms played Hey Girl, Don’t Bother Me.
I belted out a half decent karaoke sing-a-long whilst trying to sort through Big Client No. 1’s viral virility.
I came back to the Kate Tempest album later in the afternoon. I previously listened to Let Them Eat Chaos a couple of times, and then dismissed it as urban poetry.
In the absence of any doubt: I f-ing HATE poetry.
But I quite like Miss Tempest.
The storyline reminds me a lot of A Grand Don’t Come for Free - an album that I played a little too often a decade or so ago.
It’s all words, innit.
Ketamine for breakfast.
But NEVER poetry.
We had the monthly work webinar late afternoon. I rather enjoy these sessions. They bring a little familiarity to a remote working situation.
An early evening trip to the Co-op led to three Porter’s for a fiver.
Chin chin.
I remained sober watching the Three Days of De Panne, and catching up with endless online admin.
LOVE the Spring Classics.
Paris Roubaix in couple of weeks, Comrades.
Chapeau!
