Storm Doris blew away the lovely lido swim on Thursday.
At least that was what I was expecting from Mr BBC Weather Man.
I decided not to risk the bicycle ride over to Lake Brockwell with heavy rain forecast.
Of course it didn’t come.
And so a Sunny Stockwell short run instead.
This was the first time that I have been pounding the mean streets of SW8 since that ‘unfortunate injury’ just over a month ago.
It all felt absolutely fine.
Larkhall Park was almost as lovely as the lido. A chap wearing a Barbour jacket and a shooting cap was working out on the outdoor gym at 7am.
Dismiss stereotypes, Comrades.
A quick clean up in the flat, and then I walked on for a school day in SW9.
I went straight into a School Choir rehearsal, with Van Halen’s Jump being the song of the day. It was a full on rock rendition, with wonderful camp keyboards and a live guitar as the backing.
Some photos from a Y12 recent work experience week were then passed on to me to publish. One of the fine students was working in a local charity shop.
The pic saw the young chap taking delivery of some new stock.
That waistcoat looks familiar, I thought.
I was wearing it…
awks, obvs.
It was a productive school day. I made the short walk back to the Sunny Stockwell flat just as Storm Dorris was blowing through SW9.
Back *over there* and we received more good news late in the afternoon on the Colne Radio front. £1,000 of funding has been awarded by the Aviva Community Fund after a public online vote.
Some wonderful news to end the day: @avivacf has awarded us £1,000! https://t.co/FicJBMEbzZ … Many thanks to everyone who voted for us 🙂 pic.twitter.com/L1qPpWfia0

Funding is going to be an ongoing concern as we move towards FM status in a couple of months time. Plans are being made as to how we can address this and become… ‘sustainable.’
What word did we use to use before the dreaded sustainable became so acceptable?
Getting by?
I managed a bit of gardening back in the flat before sunset in Sunny Stockwell. No used condoms were encountered this time.
In TOTP 1983 News: We’ve reached the Style Council years.
Hurrah!

Speak Like *A* Child was on the March ’83 broadcast on BBC4 early evening. Thursday evenings for the next two years or so are going to be something of a swoon fest for me.
“Spent all day thinking about you,
Spent all night coming to terms with it.”
The song has only been slightly spoiled over recent years with it being one of only a dozen or so on the constant gym PA loop.
I’m starting to associate it along with Baltimore’s bloody Tarzan Boy.
Thursday evening was then spent with the continued flat clean up following the visit of the carpenters, and then editing and publishing the school content from earlier in the day.
I *will* make it to the lovely lido in the morning.
Yep.
A windy Throwback Thursday, Lido pool temp is 9.4 degrees. Open 7:15-10:45am. Last entry 15 mins prior to closure. #lidoguide #historicpools pic.twitter.com/qOsWR8VJW7
