A morning ride on the No. 3 bus, through Brixton and en route to the lovely lido.
Heavy rain was forecast for later in the day. Monday wasn’t a morning for rolling out on two wheels - which kinda pisses on my parade, having spent Sunday afternoon trying to get my Raleigh 20 roadworthy once again.
It didn’t look much fun opposite Brixton tube tbh. I have ignorantly failed to follow the finer details of the tube strike, but ten deep on the pavement outside Morleys isn’t how I would choose to start my Monday morning.
I had far better things to do - such as a brisk four lengths in the chilled waters of Lake Brockwell.
I approached my South London week with much trepidation, fearful of failure down at the lido. I’ve managed to swim every morning. Apologies for the permanent GRIN, Comrades.
I showered, and then made a brisk walk up Croxted Road for a school day in SE21.
It started with a Senior Management team photoshoot shortly before 9am, and then it was straight into a Singing and Signing assembly and (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.
LOVE that place.
This was my first time in SE21 since the break. I had much catching up to do.
I managed to make it around 14 classrooms. I left a little weary shortly before 4pm, with 3,000 words bashed out as well.
I was needed back *over there* on kitten sitting duty.
Oh dear.
Endless planning took place on Sunday evening ahead of the SE21 to LS route, bicycle and tube free.
In the end I reckon I spent more time on the planning than the execution.
It was a bloody doddle.
I walked it down to Herne Hill, caught the Thameslink to Farringdon, expecting to have to walk it through the City.
But whaddya know - there was an eastbound Circle line train on the platform, all set to take me straight through to LS without stopping.
It was half empty as well.
LOVE #TubeStrike.
*other experiences may differ, etc*
The only downer was the rather rude man walking along the eastbound platform, shouting out:
“C***! C***! C***!”
I take it you’re not after a LS train, Sir?
Back at the other end of the line and it was catch up time with Anna and the kittens.
We watched the Aussie Big Bash, and then DARTS.
Plus booze.
And so the acclimatisation begins.
Bugger.
