Wednesday

A midweek hit and run Transpontine day.

I had work over in the lovely SE21 school. With Anna also in South London, the kittens were the reason the estuary wilds return ticket was needed.

Arse.

It got better as I crossed at London Bridge. I literally bumped into my old friend Helen as we were both bicycling over the Old Father.

Helen and I go back to the Universal Music Days back in 2000, both working on the website that was going to revolutionise the modern interweb for music.

Except it didn’t.

It’s absolutely ACE that in a city of 8m plus, you can see still have a random meeting with a friend.

Helen pulled out left on the south side en route to City Hall. I kept on cycling down to Lambeth.

I had a little more time to play with. I stopped off briefly at the lovely lido to see if any Icicles were still nursing a Lido Cafe coffee.

The pool was pretty much empty.

And then it was straight into SE21, and straight into the pantomime season.

Oh no it…

But yeah.

It was.

I was booked in back in the balmy days of June to be in school for a visit of a local theatre company.

It was pitched perfectly for a special needs school. A makaton-led marriage of a happy ending is the way that all pantos should conclude.

I enjoyed it so much that I made a return for the matinee performance with the secondary school students.

I managed to get around some other year groups. It’s been a long term for all.

And then just after 4pm I began the long commute back to *over there.*

Oh dear.

I cheered myself up along Brixton Road, stopping off for some Transpontine olive bread supplies from Mr Di Lieto.

Transpontine olive bread, innit

Back at the other end and a couple of very hungry kittens were waiting for me.

Tough love: you’re not coming anywhere near my Transpontine olive bread, dears.

Daisy and Dotty [stop it] have learnt how to turn the kitchen tap on though. Which is a bit of a worry, seeing as though Daisy is OCD over water and I am on a water metre.

I then had another evening of work shifts all the through until 11pm.

Pay to play, innit.
