Saturday

OH HAI hangover early on Saturday morning.

Ouch.

This has hasn’t happened for a while.

I didn’t have time to do a duvet disappearing act; I had promised Anna that we would be on the start line for the 9am Colchester Park Run.

It was a quiet ride in along the Wivenhoe side of the Trail. Over on the other side of the muddy banks of the Colne and the birders were back once again.

I love obsessions, and especially those that offer a positive, personal element of OCD.

But sorry fellas - I just don’t get the watch the birdy thing.

I made it the start line in Castle Park with a few minutes to spare. The hangover had evaporated along with the early estuary mist. I positioned myself towards the front, and even dreamed of a PB.

It was a decent run. I opened up my stride downhill, and then grimaced with some shorter paces on the climb.

The Colchester Light and Shades Festival was being set up early morning. A Medieval maiden making a call on her iPhone put a smile on my face.

My official race time of 22″21′ was half-decent, albeit some 50 seconds off a PB. I finished third in my vets age category.

Oh dear

We did the #SUNNYCOLCH charity thing whilst we were in town. Second hand dishes were on the shopping list for the kittens. We’ve been running out of plates, such is their increasing appetite.

I managed to pick up a pair of brown brogues as well. I’ve been after a pair for a while, but put off with the London prices.

We stopped off for a clean up and a swim at the pool. Anna pushed me for pace as we put 40 lengths in.

I was close to bailing out after 30 or so, but kept up the pretence and continued. I was impressed that Anna saw it through to 40.

But don’t tell her that.

Half an hour of arseing around in the spa was almost as GLORIOUS as the bicycle ride back to base.

I think the tide is b0rked

The kittens were lively over luncheon. We has a little litter incident.

I cleaned out the litter tray, and then before I had the chance to refill it, Dotty [STOP IT] did a wee wee.

Oh dear.

Also amusing was their new found skill in being able to close a door. They’ve haven’t worked out how to re-open them yet. Bless.

BIG #Essex Skies at Broad Lane, innit

We cycled up to Broad Lane mid-afternoon to see Wivenhoe at home to Haverhill. It was a decent game, with the Dragons dominating the first half, but a spirited comeback led to a 2-1 win for the away team.

The Palace Vs Liverpool game back on TV was decent as well. I’ve developed a begrudging respect for the Selhurst lot over recent years.

Saturday evening was then BOOZE free, watching Six Day London and shopping for PUSSY beds.

sexy.
