Early work shifts for Sunday, and then I blew the cobwebs off the roadie and cycled off for the Colchester CTC 100.
Good to see @Jason_Cobb on Colchester @WeAreCyclingUK 100/100 ride, just made the start in time! Thanks to @playgolfcol for hosting us

Technically it wasn’t a 100km circuit, clocking in at 104km. Add in the extra ride over to the roll out, and I clocked just over 130km on Sunday.
OUCH, etc.
Homemade flapjack got me around. I was laden down with treacle and oats in my cycling pockets. I was in need of the extra boost by the time the first 30km were clocked up.
I committed CTC faux pas by not having a route map.
You FOOL!
I uploaded the gpx to my Garmin the night before, but for some reason it failed to navigate.
I hitched a ride with a group of mature, but pacy CTC riders. It wasn’t quite cycling etiquette, sheltering behind the bunch, and not putting in any work.
I SMASHED IT up Wormingford Hill, dancing on the pedals and setting myself up for a sprint finish.
Live the dream, etc, but I finished with only 15 minutes to spare ahead of the official cut off.
It was a painful ride back to base, and then a plodding late garden session.
The temptress that is the back lawn still draws me in for further mowing action. I think I have a bit of a flymo obsession to be honest.
More work, more DARTS for Sunday evening.
I actually enjoy having a dishwasher full of cat bowls once again 🙂
