An early morning chat with the charming Boyd along Stockwell Road to start off Saturday.
This time last year Boyd and I were involved in a ‘little local difficulty’ with some chancers posing as a Brixton community group.
Two court cases later and we were smiling on Saturday morning.
Boyd is doing a brilliant job with his street art on the soon to be demolished Thrayle House. We had a chat about future projects, as well as the fall out from last summer.
Which all left me running a little late for the lovely lido.
The water was still warmer than the air temperature. I managed a poor ten lengths before having to turn around and cycle back to Sunny Stockwell.
And then the rest of Saturday was all about on the piss at HQ with @surreycricket.
And with Anna.
But Surrey didn’t turn up at Lord’s for their innings, and so we held off on the booze.
We didn’t have time to even consider a little light afternoon refreshment whilst Warwickshire went about their business of demolishing the ‘rey.
It was all a very sobering experience.
Which meant a little time to spare ahead of an evening of work shifts.
It is a rarity that Anna and I are both together in town at the same time now. And so we made the most of the Surrey collapse and set off for an afternoon along the South Bank.
I started to snap away with some street photography as we crossed Westminster Bridge.
But it was all just too easy.
I did resolve about five years ago not to be so rude and shoot from the hip with hit and miss snaps of strangers. The results might look half decent, but it is a very intrusive form of photography.
I snapped half a dozen scenes on Saturday, and then thought, nah.
Where’s the challenge? And what of the ethics?
We kept on walking all the way along the South Bank. It felt like 1995 when Anna and I use to go about exploring our city on foot for the first time.
We ended up in the new Tate Modern Switch House. I was too tired to try and take in any art to be honest.
We headed straight for the viewing gallery on the top floor. The view was impressive, even for an overcast September late afternoon.
And then back to Sunny Stockwell for a Saturday run of work shifts in the flat.
Oh - we bought a cat carrier as well.
Guess what’s coming next?
