Wednesday

A day trip out to North Norfolk to spend some time with my parents.

My father has been unwell. I don’t want to go into the details, but I did arrive at Sheringham station with a tremendous sense of nervousness.

This soon settled down.

What was needed all round was plenty of rest. And that’s pretty much what took place under the glorious Indian Summer coastal skies by the caravan.

North Norfolk, innit

We sat outside for most of the day. I started reading Tracey Thorn’s Bedsit Disco Queen. I had almost finished when I had to cycle back to the train station later in the evening.

I gave my parents a little space to rest in the afternoon and wandered along the coast from West Runton into Sheringham town centre.

Not a lot has changed since our first family holidays almost forty years ago.

I did a brief charity shop run. I returned to the caravan on one of the hottest days of the year having bought a new pair of winter gloves.

The winter swims back at Lake Brockwell seemed like an age away.

As did most things on Wednesday.

An awful lot of tea was drunk today.

This was a good day.

LOVELY day with my parents
