Another day, another South London jumble sale.
Hurrah!
I arrived at the lovely lido to find the equally lovely Friends of Brockwell Park setting up for their monthly rummage.
I do enjoy a decent rummage first thing on a Sunday morning.
My Cob Deluxe shopper bicycle seemed to be drawing some attention. I am always amazed that this continues to happen on a regular basis.
It is an old 70’s imitation Raleigh 20, branded (not by me) with the legend of Cob Deluxe across the frame.
It is a bicycle that has my name on it.
And nope - it’s not for sale.
The lido itself was simply stunning.
I changed into the shreddies, and then walked down towards the deep end for my graceful entry into the water.
But I waited. And then waited once again.
The South London sun was illuminating directly into my field of vision. Even wearing my tinted goggles, the glare sucked me into a moment of inactivity.
It was absolutely GLORIOUS.
The water surface presented a light show, changing each second as the gentle water movements reacted to the shinning light.
I caught a South London sun tan in the three minutes or so of aquatic absorption.
I settled down to my strokes, admiring the return of the Brockwell blue. This will all change come Tuesday when the Transpontine heatwave sees the return of suncream and kiddy piss.
A mad underwater flapper flapped at me from the adjacent lane.
OH HAI @Kingwelffish.
I wasn’t expecting that, Madam.
Chores were calling back in the flat, but it seemed folly to waste such a beautiful September Sunday morning on housework.
I joined the rest of the Icicles for a leisurely catch up.
Eventually I had to move. I took in a slight detour on the bicycle ride back to base. Monday is the first day of the new term in the new SW9 school.
I couldn’t resist a cycle past to see if the building is finished.
It looked ACE. I can’t wait to explore and see what I can find inside come Monday morning.
Housework was completed, and then I went about publishing the SE21 school content from Friday.
I finished just in time to slip off into town for the Tour of GB. Anna caught the roll out a week ago up in the Lakes. It seemed fitting that the bicycling baton was passed full circle, as I caught the conclusion with the London criterium.
I walked the route, snapping away with a new backdrop for each race shot. The event just seems to get better every year.
A run of work shifts filled Sunday evening. I also caught some of A Midsummer Night’s Dream on the iPlayer live from The Globe. It was the personal Bankside highlight for me this summer. A stunning production.
