Looking at the Colchester Cat Rescue Facebook page first thing on Friday morning wasn’t one of my better ideas.
As Anna so politely put it:
“You are shitting on the grave of the mad cat.”
Quite.
But we both feel a tremendous sense of emptiness with the mad cat no longer hear to distract us from work.
We’ve shifted out timeline slightly for finding a new friend. This was going to be the new year. I think that we both still want some South London freedom and flexibility to come and go as we please.
We’ll see…
The Friday swim was ACE. I’ve managed to build up a real rhythm over the past week. Fifty power lengths were completed, with a lane to myself as well, natch.
I did the B&Q thing on the way back to base. We’re after some end of season sale deckchairs. It appears that such things are no longer sold by B&Q.
In Homegrown Pepper News: Nice.
The Roots Manuva #LateJunction tape livened up the morning work shifts. Brit Hip Hop is the BEST. Yeah.
My planned afternoon of listening to @surreycricket was cut short. The ‘rrey wrapped up the game back at The Oval before luncheon.
SUPERB.
BATTED @roryburns17. Onwards @surreycricket to Yorkshire #wearetherey

More work, and then the summer Schedule Gods smiled down upon me: a three window of no work.
Hurrah!
I headed out to Brightlingsea once again on the MTB.
We have rather overlooked the sea part of Brightlingsea. It is the sea, right?
Not quite, but it’s sure quicker than cycling off to the rolling golden sands of Walton.
Thirty minutes later and I was beach bound. I set the alarm on my phone, and laid back for the inevitable: sleep.
In the end it was the incoming tide that awoke me just in time.
A bicycle ride back along the roads, and then more work back at base.
With the setting estuary wilds sun calling, Anna and I went out for an early evening stroll.
Nothing really changes.
And then the BIG one: Burton Vs D***y on Sky.
As a Forest fan I’m not really sure why I’ve been so excited about this match ever since the fixtures were first released.
Seeing young Nigel working the touchline is alway a treat.
One day, Comrades. One day.
You can take the boy out of the Trent End, etc…
Oh - I’ll just drop this here as well.
Have a good one.
