The first day of the 2016 Lambeth Country Show lived up to all of the expectations. Put simply: it was bloody brilliant.
The annual celebration of all that is ACE about our borough continues to change each year. Concern is often raised about how the Show is becoming too big, too commercial and moving away from its proud roots.
But somehow the Lambeth Country Show manages to move along, yet still retain everything that has made it the social highlight in the calendar for folk living around our patch.
All of the usual attractions were there for 2016: owl stroking, BONKERS vegetable sculpting and the jousting knights.
Plus Chucklehead Cider remains the juice of choice that somehow holds all of this together.
The food choices seem to have grown since 2015. There is the danger that the Country Show becomes simply a pop up street food festival in Brockwell Park.
But the beauty of the Country Show is the cliche that there really is something for everyone.
We tried on the first day of the 2016 Show to capture all around us. We failed miserably; the Lambeth Country Show is best appreciated if you simply walk around, and take it at your own pace.
Below is a selection of random snaps from day one. They may match your appreciation of the Show, but then again you may have have an altogether different experience.
Most of the photos below were taken through the prism of Chucklehead Cider vision.
Bring on Day Two on Sunday.
