Saturday

HELLO Saturday morning, HELLO Colne Radio Crowd Funder success.

Hurrah!

Blimey.

Where did that come from?

I actually *do* know where the very kind £500 pledge came from early on Saturday morning that tipped the crowd funder over our £3,000 target.

Thank you, Sir!

Timing is everything.

And my bloody timing was way out of synch for early on Saturday morning.

I wasn’t expecting to reach the target until possibly late in the day tomorrow.

It all meant that I had some frantic activity in bashing out a thank you post for the Colne Radio website, doing the social media tart thing, and generally thanking folk.

But I had to be out of the house by 8:30am for ParkRun.

I should probably write a more considered piece about the crowd funder and what worked, and what didn’t.

Basically: don’t hold your crowd funder when the country is in lockdown and disunity over a bloody referendum.

We had a two day period of ZERO action. I actually cried.

We knew that this would be a busy period with the referendum, Euro 2016, Wimbledon and Glasto. But the station simply couldn’t wait until the school holidays.

And what worked?

Well - we got there.

And then some…

I’ve already been approached by another local sort, asking about crowd funding a similar project.

It’s too soon to run and manage it. But I have the ideas and desire.

Enter my green passage

And so it was out of the house at 8:30am, a mad cycle along a very green Trail, and then Colchester Park Run.

#SUNNYCOLCH Park Run, innit

I’m learning to absolutely LOVE this event.

I was a little low on resources though. I skipped breakfast with the crowd funding nonsense, and so was running on empty.

My fuel was the curry from last night. I made the right decision in snaffling Anna’s last remaining bhaji.

It was a decent run, with a final race time of 22″09′ - about 40 seconds off a Colchester PB. I finished 4th in my vets category.

Happy with that.

Oh dear

I then went to the Sunny Colch opticians in a slightly sweaty state after ParkRun.

Apologies.

The new bins that I picked up in Brixton last Saturday weren’t fitted correctly.

No worries - I’d go to Sepcsavers in Sunny Colch and get them sorted.

Except I ended up in Vision Express and somehow managed to get them to adjust my fitting, only before realising that I was in the wrong bloody shop.

Whoops.

Should have gone to Specsavers, etc.

Arf.

I managed to squeeze in a brief viewing of the new Martin Parr exhibition at firstsite.

For the opening day of an exhibition on a Saturday mid-morning, it was… empty 🙁

Parr is my favourite snapper. The scope of the firstsite exhibition was vast - probably too vast.

A second and third return will no doubt follow.

I cycled on to the pool for a brief splash about and a clean up.

West Ham Wanker was holding court.

Oh dear.

Straight outta the pool, and straight into the barber’s chair.

A number one all over, and something for the weekend please.

It was an OK haircut, but as ever, I was the perfectionist back at base, attempting to clean up any loose strands of what remains of what I am optimistically calling ‘my hair.’

I got my clippers out and WOH.

I forgot to put the bloody No. 1 guard on.

Whoops.

I now have a clump of hair missing from the front of my head - the only area where it is really still actively growing.

I look like a reject from A Flock of Seagulls.

That’s not a good look, Jase.

I went undercover with a cap, and walked of to the Wivenhoe Fete on the Field.

I didn’t have long - only an hour ahead of a run of afternoon work shifts. It was lovely catching up with some folk I’ve not spoken with in a while.

I ran around doing the photo thing before the rain started.

And then work back at base.

The Dexy’s album kept me company and put a HUGE smile on my face.

Kev is camp.

YEAH.

Saturday came to a close with Le Tour, ODI Cricket and BOOZE.

Chin chin.
