6am work shifts to start off Saturday morning. Not surprisingly it was rather quiet.
I sat back in my tea drinking chair of choice, carried out my work and then thought: did Friday really happen?
No such deep thoughts to occupy the mad cat. She decided to climb the wisteria shortly after 7am, and then… became stuck.
You’re on your own there, luv.
Having failed badly to get back to South London over the past few days, Anna and I… disappeared back to South London.
We had flat things to do back Sunny Stockwell; we had BOOZE to drink on the piss in the Pavilion with Surrey.
I had a brief Brixton trip first to pick up my new specs.
Bye bye heavy black rims, hello Nu transparency.
Anna insisted on a selfie bloody Pop Brixton.
It was empty and soulless around the shipping containers mid-morning. It felt like we could have been anywhere apart from Brixton.
Which kinda makes the name of Pop Brixton redundant.
A short walk down Stockwell Road, and then back to the flat. I had a bit of lunchtime gardening to do.
The growth spurt over the past week has been pretty amazing.
SNIP.
We made our way to The Oval shortly after midday. The ‘rrey were playing… bloody Essex.
Christ. There’s no chuffing escape.
We have long since ring-fenced this fixture as a BOOZE occasion at The Oval with friends.
We took the strategic decision of positioning ourselves early in the ground close to the John Major Suite - the fastest serving bar.
As ever, Essex had the better of the ‘rrey.
We shifted over to the Pavilion for the Surrey innings to catch up with some old pals. It was particularly pleasing to be sitting in the South London sun and watching Surrey up close.
Come the close of play and we loitered in the Long Room to watch the Wales Vs NI match.
And then out east, and a train journey back to *over there*.
Oh dear.
We were a little early to arrive on the other side of town. We walked around the Shoreditch back streets whilst I did a brief photoshoot around my old Worldpop patch.
The train journey was a sobering one.
OUCH.
That hurt.
And then back *over there* in time for the second half of the Porto match.
Betcha it was lively back down South Lambeth Road.
