Monday

A 7am work shift to start the working week. I took care of business whilst eating my Bran Flakes.

And then the cycle off to the lovely lido.

All of the Icicle crowd was there - a rarity these days with overlapping work schedules.

I had a chat with @OneEyeGrey about the growing green algae presence on the basin of the pool.

He’s a fan; I prefer the bright blue dancing Brockwell fairies.

Sadly these were in short supply for Monday morning. It was an overcast Lake Brockwell Day.

It was ACE to see all of the lanes open. I was tempted to swim in all of them, just to take in the subtle changes in the surroundings.

My time was tight though as I had a school day up the hill in SE21.

I can think of worse ways in which to start the school week than to introduce the lovely pupils to Starman.

I was at the school the day Bowie died. The music teacher had the ACE idea of simply playing them Heroes, and seeing how the SEN pupils responded.

They laughed, they clapped and they danced along.

This connection has now developed to help them sing and sign some Bowie songs.

LOVE that school.

I managed to just about get around all of the classes - they’ve added a new one as well since my last visit.

Too many highlights, but cooking in the new sixth form cafe raised a smile.

I started to watch the bruising Herne Hill skies late in the day. I wasn’t on the Brompton, but still didn’t want to get my Raleigh 20 wet.

True to form and it bloody pissed it down just ahead of chucking out time.

Miraculously the rain suddenly stopped, and even managed to dry up slightly.

I cycled back to Sunny Stockwell, en route to LS and back to *over there*.

I had the tactical decision to make: do I risk it on the Brompton across town, and pray that it doesn’t piss it down again?

Go on Jase. Live dangerously.

I somehow got away with it.

The bloody train was delayed, natch.

I edited some school photos and videos during the journey. I did a quick check on the copy that I bashed out whilst at school - 2,100 words.

Oh dear.

I seriously need to self-edit and halve the word count.

The new Dexy’s album also kept me company. I’ve reached that reassuring stage when a new album become familiar. You know what is coming up next in the running order, and savour every song.

Album of the Year?

Betcha.

You Wear It Well is surprisingly a very strong cover. That nice @RobertElms should pitch it up against Rod the Mod for Cover to Cover.

Back *over there* and the evening was spent catching up with Anna and the mad cat.

Plus the Italy Vs Belgium game.

And BOOZE.

Chin chin.
