An early morning work start for Sunday morning.
And whaddya know: it was rather quiet.
I downed tools and cycled off to the lovely lido shortly after 8:30am. The waters of Lake Brockwell were choppy. I do enjoy swimming in the rain.
A quick dash back to the flat, and then I headed up South Lambeth Road to see @1607WestEgg at the Cafe.
It’s been a meeting of minds that has been on the cards for some time now. I’m surprised that it has taken so long for two Sunny Stockwell outcasts to finally catch up over a coffee.
There is so much scope for a Stockwell / Kennington / Oval shared blog.
Or even podcast.
I know of others who would certainly be interested.
But as ever - time…
I cycled off in the South London drizzle just before lunchtime, Bankside bound. This soon became a downpour as I hit Elephant.
I was bloody soaked.
Tate Modern proved to be the perfect place to dry out. Balls to the art - I was after a half-decent hand dryer.
It’s been a year or so since I last went to the galleries. I just find the sheer volume of art on offer a little over-whelming.
I wandered around a few of the rooms. Even before midday it was getting ridiculously busy.
The space seemed to lack the buzz that I found at Newport Street Gallery on Saturday. I fear that Vauxhall is about to become a hipster enclave.
My sodden cycling trousers managed to dry out just in time for the 1pm performance of A Midsummer’s Night Dream at The Globe.
Yeah yeah - watching a midsummer play in the pisssing rain shortly after luncheon.
Timing is everything, Jase.
Despite the weather is was absolutely ACE.
An incredibly playful, sexual production. The mixed race gay twist on the four confused lovers just added to a glorious sense of even more confusion.
It was certainly very different to my first introduction to Shakespeare with the very same play, some 30 summers ago as part of my ‘O’ Level drama.
Sadly my Puck was far from a sexual deviant.
I had plans to cycle off to see the Serpentine pavilion. But I was knackered after a weekend of running around.
Plus I had some work back at base.
I finally finished editing and publishing the school content from Friday, and then had a run of scheduled work shifts.
I ended the weekend with some work on the Colne Radio crowd funder that we are starting to tease next week.
