I was awoken by the hum of the No. 2 bus along South Lambeth Road early on Friday morning. It was definitely the No. 2 - it has a far superior purring of the engine when compared to the No. 88.
I had an early cycle off to the lovely lido, via the SW9 school. I left my glasses in the ICT suite yesterday.
I confess to watching the cricket at The Oval last night more or less blind.
It was probably for the best, to be honest.
The lido swim was significant as I finally lost all of the winter layers. We are down to the bare bones, with the swimming cap now put away for another winter.
It was a brisk swim, paced by the usual Icicle regulars doing their bobbing up and down.
The gents changing room then went a little warped with some naked stretching taking place in front of the mirrors.
And then another school day, this time over in SE17.
It got off to an ACE start with singing Maybe It’s Because I’m a Londoner with the Nursery kids.
Teach ’em young, I say.
The rest of the day was as random and joyous as ever: an invite to the Year 1 Sculpture Gallery, bear hunting with the Reception children, and then some gardening in Year 2.
Plus a brief contraception session with Year 5.
I didn’t stick around for long.
My mission to try and cut down on school content is failing. Less words, more images was the message.
I still came out of SE17 with 2,100+ words at chucking out time.
Plus LOADS of lovely snaps, a couple of videos and some audio pieces. It’s going to be be a bit of a pain piecing them all together.
The school day ended with a simply ACE story about the appointment of a new teacher.
He did his PGCE oberservation at the school; prior to that he was a Teaching Assistant. And before this he was a pupil at the school.
LOVELY, LOVELY.
Good luck, Sir.
Late afternoon and I was summoned to head back over there.
Oh dear.
I had a pleasant train journey catching up with Mr Mayor.
Interesting…
An estuary wilds weekend of work, rather than play awaits.
But not before a Friday night of t20 action and Booze with Anna and the mad cat.
Chin chin.
