Friday

A new Stone Roses single to kick start Friday morning.

meh.

Was it really worth the 21 year wait?

But hey - at least they are making music once again.

I cycled off early to the lovely lido to purify myself in the waters of Lake Brockwell.

Any London cyclist will have noticed how the city cycling infrastructure is changing, almost on a week by week basis.

You rock up on a semi-regular route, only to to find the pleasure of a genuinely segregated cycle lane.

A week away from South London, and woh! The Sunny Stockwell gyratory is almost ready to be re-opened.

The cycle lane on the Clap’ham Road side heading south is now functional.

It was a big F-YEAH moment as I turned left in safety along Stockwell Road - the first time in over two decades of cycling along this stretch.

Um, cheers, Boris.

The lido was a sea change as well.

Somehow the water temperature has managed to leap from 12 degrees since my list visit, to a balmy 18 degrees for Friday morning.

I ditched the wetsuit, and reduced the hat count to just the one.

@OneEyeGrey was doing his naked poolside change thing. You know that the summer season is almost upon us at Lake Brockwell when the Great Man ponces around poolside with nothing but a towel.

The water itself was rather murky. You could definitely sense that the it is becoming more fluid and easy to cut through.

This sounds like lido bollocks, but the winter water is most definitely of a tougher resistance.

Twelve lengths later and it was actually warmer in the water than out.

The lido wisterias are now in full bloom - which should put a smile on the face of le gai pensionnaire.

I had to turn down coffee invites, and cycle off back through Brixton and a school day in SW9.

I’m not entirely sure where I should be going now; the new school building is looking more or less ready.

New school building ahoy! #Stockwell #SW9

Boy Y was a STAR as ever.

His year group is researching contemporary British artists. He was tasked with looking at the life of Freddie Mercury:

“Why did he grow an extra chin?”

STAR.

I then THRASHED him once again at Connect 4 over luncheon.

GEDDIN.

A brief Lidl dash on the way home, and then Friday night was a Sunny Stockwell stay in night.

I’ve got a bit of mad weekend lined up. I had school work and some Brixton Buzz action that needed my attention.
