Friday

Awoken early by estuary wilds rain at 5:30am. Which makes a change from the South Lambeth Road buses.

It was WEIRD weather today.

A downpour until around 7am, and then suddenly it became summer.

I made the most of the extra hours with a bit of school content catching up. Online videos can be bloody fiddly.

The sliders for the new school site design are proving to be fairly flexible.

The mad cat tried her best to distract me. She has taken to owning Anna’s new snowboard.

And then a bit of work elsewhere, and finally I was free for the day.

Anna and I cycled off along the Trail and headed for the pool. We both had the winter lycra on. It was T-shirt and shorts weather.

It’s been a while since we last had a swim together. We swam in parallel, both uncertain as to who was going to make a break for it.

I found the pace tough to keep up. I did the usual of trying to put Anna off with an underwater comedy face. She simply stretched ahead of me.

We left the pool and cycled over to Mersea Island for the Easter Beer Festival. I did consider checking the tidal times before setting off.

Bugger.

The traffic stretched around half a mile or so, waiting for the water to die down.

I love the idea of island life mentality. I’m sure it’s all one great big adventure, apart from the bloody tide twice a day.

The beer festival was ACE. We only had an hour and a half ahead of a ferry back over to Brightlingsea. But this meant that the silliness was limited.

We both went for the dark stuff, with half pints of Porters keeping us happy throughout the afternoon.

It wasn’t entirely clear if it was a beer festival or a dog show, such was the large number of mutts mixing with the real ale crowd.

We managed to catch the last ferry from East Mersea back from Brightlingsea.

Friday evening was spent watching the I Believe in Miracles Forest film once again. There are so many parallels with the modern day L******er City.

They still need to win two European Cups, mind.
