A new morning, a new product from Dave Winer. He’s been a busy bloke.

I get the impression that he’s impatient to get as much code out there as possible as he fights against the big tech web silos.

And so we have Feed Hunter.

It… hunts down feeds for you.

There use to be a time when any site with an RSS feed would broadcast the fact on the front end. Some browsers even did the job for you.

Long Live RSS.

Long Live Dave Winer.

His overnight mail is always the first thing I turn to in the morning. He always makes me stop and think.

Album of the Day: Tito Puente - Dance Mania

I have little reference points here. So it’s probably best to appreciate this album for what it is - joyful, uplifting music. There’s nothing wrong in that.

Bob Elms celebrated Joni’s 80th birthday on BBC London. He played Coyote. It sounded lush at 11am.

I’ve never warmed to Joni’s voice. But the bass from Jaco Pastorius is something else. I’m trying to source a cheapo CD copy.

The discussion on BBC London then turned towards long lost army surplus shops around town. TCR use to be a Mecca for these.

Back on the other side of the river and we use to have an army surplus along the Walworth Road. It disappeared around ten years ago. It was staffed by the rudest man in S Ldn.

The Aladdin’s Cave along The Cut at Waterloo is somehow still hanging on. I last visited a couple of years ago. It’s a struggle to reach one end of the shop to the other. Pile ’em up high, fella.

I had time for a brief walk at lunchtime. I didn’t get far - 1.5km along the Trail, and then back again.

A carpet of leaves did a decent job of disguising the mud that lays along the path. I admit to serious runner envy as the lunchtime joggers went about their business.

I snapped away with the PEN-F. I experimented with manual focus, achieving hit and miss results.

I love the freedom the PEN-F gives me. There’s no thought about the quantity or quality of the shots.

Snap, don’t review, move along.

Repeat.

A Gilles Peterson catch up kept me company for the afternoon work. He had a great interview with Isaiah Collier. The teasers from the Parallel Universe album excites me.

Track cycling, darts and BOOZE kick started the weekend.
