A return to Estuary Wilds running on Tuesday morning. The plan was to head out for a plod and beat the pissing rain that was predicted.
I took on the efficient, if slightly dull, University 8km route. I should be taking on the full estuary route at this time of year. It’s currently a mud bath.
The highlight this morning was passing through the University’s Knowledge Gateway. That’s not a sentence I ever expected to type.
Poppies and wild daisies were everywhere. These were deliberately planned, rather than a random act of nature. They still look stunning. The anarchic gardener within approves.
Album of the Day: Hole - Celebrity Skin
The opening title track is a killer. it bloody rocks. I’ve always loved this. The melodies that followed were a surprise. It strays into guitar pop territory.

Album of the Day extra: Pixies - Come on Pilgrim
Stop. Start. Quiet. Loud. MONSTER bass. SCREAM. Repeat. Bloody brilliant.

Morning work came to a halt. It was time for: To the Table of Dreams!
The wind meant that this wasn’t a session to work on your spin. I reverted to power and aggression. My early 3-0 lead was tamed back to 3-3. I played it cautiously in the decider, leading to a 4-3 win.
We carried on walking over to the Sailing Club. We’ve had a polite request to move the kayaks. The boat shed where they are stored against is in need of a fresh lick of paint.
A unicyclist fella was doing his thing along West Quay. By the strict letter of the law you shouldn’t be cycling along here. But chapeau all the same, dude.
The afternoon work shifts were spent in the company of the HDIF 1984 mix. It’s bloody ACE. The Bunnymen, Cocteau’s, Redskins, Mary Chain, The Fall and Nick Cave all feature.
Oh - and Uncle Bill’s Saturday Boy as the closer for the set. I belted out the lyrics, still word perfect, forty years on.
It was chuffing cold late afternoon. The slippers made an appearance.
And then the bloody Estuary Wilds downpour dropped in on us. I stressed out over the kitchen windows, fearful of another leak.
Forest emailed with links to sync various online calendars with the new PL fixtures when they drop next Tuesday. Forest are very on the ball, so to speak.
The ‘Sex Vs Somerset hit ‘n’ giggle was the evening entertainment for Tuesday.
