5Live had Chris Boardman as a guest before breakfast. He was speaking in his capacity as the Chair of Sport England.

When asked about the recent attempts to criminalise cyclists, Boardman added:

“It can be exhausting trying to keep safe.”

Yep.

More people are killed by lightning and cows each year compared to deaths at the hands of cyclists.

The conversation needs to be shifted to talk about killer cars, not cyclists.

Boardman is a top man.

Note the new jingle package rolled out by 5Live today. That will take a little getting use to on the top of each hour.

Album of the Day: Christina Aguilera - Stripped

Just not my shit. Refused to listen.

Silly golf for A was cancelled due the rain in the bloody Estuary Wilds. My wfh routine was disrupted.

Buzzed: Helen Hayes MP objects to bar proposals on the roof of Sports Direct in Brixton

A bit more Buzzed: Park closure concerns rise as Brockwell Live 2024 events set to return for five weeks

I finally caught up with the Oh Brother Fall podcast featuring Luke Haines. It’s been sitting in a browser tab for the best part of two years ever since R pinged it over. It was worth the wait.

Surrey teased with details of a new podcast coming out of The Oval. Oh great. That’s just what I need, another podcast to get sucked in to as the football season winds down.

Lidl Coupon Thursday was a disappointment. I don’t think I’ll be rushing out to my fave budget supermarket to snaffle up a discounted manicure and pedicure set.

The rest of the morning was spent waiting for the rain to disappear ahead of a run. It didn’t”t happen. I couldn’t be arsed to plod the mean streets of CO7 in the pissing rain.

There was great excitement from A:

“I’ve bought some pickleball bats!”

Oh dear. It’s come to this.

The rain finally cleared. I had time for a trip to the gym. A hardcore treadmill session (GEDDIN) was followed up by a fast freestyle swim. It helped that I had a lane to myself.

Out went the shout of: To the Tennis Club! …early evening.

Thursday night is PICKLEBALL NIGHT, yeah?

It was a decent session. I tried to experiment with some spin on my serve. The ball veered off about one metre to the right and then died.

Whoops.

ChatGPT was consulted with the evening menu options. We had few items available to throw together to try and create some edible shit.

In the end we settled on sausages, chips and beans. Spinach is overrated, Comrades.

Thursday came to a close watching DIRTY, DIRTY Leeds Utd.

Oh well.
