Tuesday 30th January, 2024

A great early morning read from The Grumblr and his County Cricket observations:

“Yet, somehow, the Empire is expecting Luke, Han and Leia to support an expansion of the Death Star. Personally, I am happy to be ‘rebel scum’ for a while longer.”

I wear my Surrey Rebel Scum brown cap with pride, Comrades.

Album of the Day: R.E.M. - Murmur

An album that sounds like it was recorded in 1986, and not 1983. These minor timeframes make a difference when they are your formative years.

It sounds like a proper album - a body of work with each song relying on each other. Songs such as Radio Free Europe come across as being a bit jointed on a Greatest Hits.

I enjoyed sitting down and listening to this, start to finish the way it should be. Blimey, there’s a bit of funk in that bass. A half decent debut.

The rest of Tuesday was a little meh. Most of it was spent either working, or sorting out some personal business.

Both are fine, thanks.

The main Table plugin that I use across all school websites was updated. Again.

It’s a great little plugin, but one that I have come to rely on far too much in recent years. Each update brings me out in a cold sweat thinking that it will b0Rk the sites.

I live to fight another day. Only another two months to go and these online stresses won’t be mine to worry about.

I listened to some third rate Lover’s Rock later in the afternoon. I’m filtering possible uploads for my YT channel.

I only need another 1,000 hours of streaming in the next 365 days to trigger the channel being monetized by YT.

It’s unlikely that I’ll get over the line with some of the shit I listened to this afternoon. Some very weak Lover’s Rock came out of the fag end of UK reggae in the late 80’s.

Tuesday evening was all about Forest.

ffs Forest.
