Blimey. HMRC don’t half nag.

Yes, yes. I know I’ve got a tax bill to settle. But not until the end of Jan, fellas.

In the space of half an hour I received a nagging email, a nagging text and even some nagging snail mail. I’m not sure which one was the more intrusive.

I’ll get back to you in six weeks, guys.

Also on my mind early morning was the buildings insurance for Sunny Stockwell. Somehow I’ve fallen by default to be the person responsible for arranging this each year.

Historically this was set up so that it expires during Christmas week. It’s piss poor timing. We’ve all got better things to do.

The renewal quote from the broker we’ve used for over a decade was SKY HIGH this year. A 46% increase on this time last year?

No ta.

I haggled with another broker. If I can get the better of a discussion with a dentist over my frequency of visits, then I can take on a broker.

I was rewarded with the discount that I think we deserve for loyalty.

Album of the Day: Soul II Soul - Club Classics Vol. One

Groundbreaking. I love the ‘Go forth and achieve your ambitions’ instructions from Jazzy. It unleashed an army of London soul brothers and sisters. There’s nothing radically new here, yet it all still sounds so fresh. The sound of late 80’s Ldn going global.

The staff Christmas party for the agency was held over lunchtime. It was online, natch.

I dressed up purposely for the occasion with a smart red jumper. This often gets confused for a Christmas jumper.

DO ONE.

The gathering was great. We rarely get to be in the same space these days. A quiz took place. I performed poorly, but that wasn’t the point.

GP listening carried me through the afternoon shifts. He dropped some old and new tracks by Britfunkers Change. They’re playing at the Jazz Café this weekend. Woh!

An email dropped from Ironmonger Row Spa. It’s finally got a reopening date of 5th January following the fire.

Hurrah!

I would say that this means my Sundays are sorted. But the price has jumped from £26 pre-fire up to £35. It use to be £10 when it was a Gawblimey geezer place.

I hate to think what kid of demographic and level of conversation the £35 price tag will attract.

To Sunny Stockwell! For one final time this year!

I don’t like leaving the bloody Estuary Wilds when it’s dark and cold.

A couple sitting opposite me on the run into to Sunny Colch were in disagreement. She was convinced The Pogues are playing at the Arts Centre next week. He wasn’t so sure.

Erm, let me help you out here.

It was more fun to listen to them bickering away. I think she meant the Blockheads.

The rest of the train journey was uneventful. I fell asleep during The Graun Politics Weekly podcast. It was probably for the best.

Back in Sunny Stockwell and the Christmas tree is still standing. This is always encouraging.

The Christmas work rota dropped late in the evening. This is always a little stressful.

Ah - happy with that.
