Some Late Junction catching up first things on Saturday morning. The Friday night show was a winter Pagan special. This was in celebration of 50 years of The Wicker Man.
Am I alone in thinking that this is a crap film?
I also caught up with the scenes from Dublin yesterday. It’s quite remarkable how music can shape a particular mood. No shame in saying that I shed a little tear for Shane.
The Postman Delivers: Three Thomas Dolby CD’s. I was after a Best Of. But these are a bit pricey. This bundle of three studio albums appeared. I snaffled them up for a decent price.
It became a little clearer about the new plans for a rebirth of the much missed Q magazine. It looks like it will be online only.
Hey hoe.
That’s an RSS feed to keep me happy, as well as the usual email subscription that will pump out new content. I’d pay decent money for a return to the dead tree Q in print.
There was pissing rain around the bloody Estuary Wilds all morning. Wivenhoe Town’s home match was called off with a waterlogged pitch.
I published the Battersea snaps from yesterday. The Ricoh handheld packs a mighty punch inside that compact body.
The latest Grumbler cricket email was a fine read. He was on superb old geezer form. There’s no harm in reverting to type when you reach this demographic.
I arsed around for far too long trying to correct what I thought was an error in Amazon Photos. I want all my images to sync, but not the videos. It looks like there isn’t an option to separate the two.
I then thought that all the files in Photos on my desktop weren’t syncing. I played around to see what the issue was here.
Half an hour later and I realised that yep, there they are, sitting nice and secure in Amazon Photos.
To the University! For a Rebels triple header!
We managed to miss the Div 3 Men tipping off at lunchtime. Weather and procrastination got the better of us.
We arrived at the Essex Sports Arena in time to see the women tip off against a lively Loughborough team
Rebels were chasing throughout most of the game. The final score of 79-70 to the visitors seemed fair.
My attention was mainly focussed on Forest away at Wolves. I had the BBC Nottingham commentary in the AirPods. It wasn’t ideal with the high volume music being pumped around the Sports Arena.
The commentary was horrid, horrid listening. I’m usually entertained listening or watching Forest. Not so today. It was an ugly experience that I wouldn’t want to repeat again.
A few more tears had been shed ahead of kick off. I thought this might be the final goodbye for Steve Cooper. It still might be the case.
But a 1-1 draw has given him a little extra hope. He remains a very weak, marginalised figure at the World Famous City Ground. I’m at a loss to explain how this has happened so rapidly.
Oh well.
The mood was lifted a little as we waited for the Men Div 1 team to tip off. I headed up to the balcony of the Sports Arena to quietly carry out my daily arthritic stretching routine.
I looked up at the big screen.
Oh.
There I was on stretching duties being broadcast to the entire Arena.
The Leicester opposition were strong opponents for the Div 1 Men. But Rebels are a transformed team this season.
The core of the team from last year find themselves benched for most of the game. New physical players have taken up the standard a level higher.
This led to a 85-75 home court win for the Rebels.
Random: I’ve finally managed to get shot of the FUCK OFF cactus before it breaks through our kitchen ceiling. And to a decent, local cause as well.
