Snow greeted me first thing in the rolling wolds of South Notts. I wasn’t expecting that. At first I thought it was a heavy frost. A strong cup of tea later and I relaised that we has a sprinkling of snow.
Caught by the River has started publishing the end of year Shadows and Reflections pieces. These are always something I always enjoy reading.
Each day as we approach January, an assortment of writers doucment the changes in their macro and micro lives.
It’s a mixed bag. The end of the year provides a useful punctuation point to reflect. There’s no way I’m writing a Brixton Buzz end of year review. Nope.
I played around a little with deck.blue - a Bluesky client similar to the much missed Tweetdeck. It does all that it needs to.
The issue for me remains the content. I want Bluesky to work. But it needs the critical mass of users to make it interesting.
I thought that Threads would hoover up all the half decent content from Twitter. But the new born X is proving to be a resiliant bastard. Once you have the audience, it’s difficult to shift them elsewhere en masse.
Robert Elms was the morning listening. BBC Ldn have gone early - way too early - with all the Christmas crap. It’s not mainstream Now Christmas tat. But I can’t feel festive until, well, until it’s all over tbh.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Routemaster had a great half hour segment reflecting on the life and output of Tom Waits. Downtour Train was played. I still thinh *shhh* that Rod gave him a good run for his money.
To Trent Bridge! In the Slush!
I had arranged to meet some old pals for a pub lunch. The snow seemed thicker as I approached West Bridgford. I was wearing the most unsuitable footwear.
It was a delightful Sunday meal. Friends, food and BOOZE.
I ended up at my siblings house and gatecrashed a birthday party.
“We want to get in there, don’t we? Eat some cake. Soak up the booze”
etc.
I was back in the family home to catch the second half of #lolspurs.
I tried to get excited about the FA Cup draw. We’ve got either Blackpool or Forest Green Rovers at home.
Oh well.
I did look to see who D***y have got. Their exit in the first round completely passed me by.
Baaa.
Oh yeah: Mr Mule’s 2023 Christmas song is half decent. I do make some exceptions to my Christmas listening.
