Album of the Day: Lambchop - Nixon
I wasn’t expecting a laid back disco vibe. Add in elements of gospel, plus the strings and horns, and you have a rather confused record. It sounds too polished. The songs suit a more stripped down approach.

Another day, anther ACE read behind the Athletic paywall from DT and PT.
Under discussion at the World Famous City Ground today: wtf went wrong with Martin O’Neill’s management at Forest?
tl;dr 30 years too late, innit.
I really wanted O’Neill’s return to work. Especially so when he dragged Roy Keane back down to Trentside.
Plodding around in mid-table was never going to be enough for the Big Fat Greek. Sabri then offered us hope before the Stoke debacle. Chris Houghton is best expunged from the Forest history books.
O’Neill sounds bitter. You can’t blame him. But given his age, he was always going to be a short fix.
Miserable Estuary Wilds weather defined Tuesday. A buggered off to play silly golf. I didn’t envy her.
This was a working day spent listening to Van Morrison. Yer man captured the bitter sweet mood perfectly.
I had a surprise response to a recent work request.
Blimey. I wasn’t expecting that. But go on, then.
To the William Loveless Hall early evening! For another Moving Image screening!
Showing on the big (ish) screen this evening was Blue Jean. I knew little about this film. An hour and a half later and I returned the Moving Image slip with a Very Good rating.
The basic plot involves a female PE teacher during the 1980’s in the North East. The spectre of Section 28 hangs over her, both in a personal and professional capacity.
The only thing stopping me from an Excellent rating was the soundtrack. It was almost as if AI had been asked to record covers of FGTH, high energy and camp disco. Blue Monday was the only original song used. Copyright can be costly.
A superb film, that deserved a larger audience at the Loveless Hall. There was even a little heckling.
