Album of the Day: Neil Young and Crazy Horse - Ragged Glory
The old goat creates quite a racket here. I say old goat - he was only 44 at the time. I remember back in 1990 thinking that he sounded ancient.
There is a great live feel to this record. The mix is spot on with the reverb rattling away and some highly tuned guitars to add to the balance.
It’s also a proper collection of songs. This feels like an album, and not random ideas. It’s driving music. It almost makes me want to learn to drive.

An expected email first thing: BRUUUCE is back on the road again next summer. Blimey. I wasn’t expecting that. He has one London date for July. Maybe the last time to catch the Boss? I should make a better effort this time.
“As a Nottingham man born and bred, I know first-hand that, built into the very fabric of our city, is a unique set of values, which include respect, honesty and care for others”
DT delivered again with a well-thought out long read on Adam Johnson and the Panthers community. I really miss watching hockey. This has been brought home to me even more in the past few days.
I’m not around enough to watch Streatham. The only UK streaming option appears to be paying £10 for one off YT feeds from the Elite League.
I came to a momentous online decision mid-morning: No more Twitter - for now, anyway. It’s a time drain trying to reach the content I want. Instead it’s a return to old school online forums.
Steady the buffers…
The Weird Wiv forum domain expires in a week or so. I don’t think my debit card will be bothering the hosts for a renewal this year.
But I am trying out the back to basics Forest LTLF forum. I need daily Forest news and views. Twitter is incapable of providing this right now. Nottingham Live is complete clickbait.
LTLF felt a little clunky. I’m going to limit my time on there to five minutes a day.
The D&B Show included a drop of the latest Pendulum release, an unlikely cover of Taylor Swift’s Anti-Hero. That got me on me toes. I love what Pendulum are doing, making D&B accessible, yet still keeping it real. Yep.
I finished off the Adam Buxton podcast chat with Billy Bragg. This led to a link for an ACE Bragg skiffle playlist. I took on the baton with pleasure, lining up some Kitty, Daisy and Lewis for the afternoon work shifts.
I dipped in and out of the Covid shit Inquiry. That was grim. Led by Donkeys, etc.
A Jawbone soundtrack appeared in the daily ebay alerts. This is a rare (ish) Weller soundtrack. It’s very folk-ish, almost a Wild Wood for modern times. Watching…
Early evening was spent trying to avoid the Trick or Treat shit. The previous owners of this house were big on all that candy crap. We spent the first few years here GROWLING and shouting out profanities at the door.
We don’t get the knockers anymore.
Train tickets were booked for a return to the Fair City towards the end of the year. It coincides quite nicely with the Everton home game. Good luck in sourcing a ticket, Jase.
To the Loveless Hall! To see a Moroccan film all about caftans!
Yep, we returned to Moving Image, the village cinema. This was my first time leaving the house since my personal business a week ago. I made the short walk to the Loveless feeling a little sheepish.
The plan is to treat MI as a fortnightly date night. Watching Carabao Cup games back at base isn’t really one for the romantics.
Screening this evening was The Blue Caftan. It was a laugh a minute film about death, homosexuality and steam rooms.
It was made all the better by the running commentary from the two Good Owd Essex Birds sitting behind us. I still gave it a Very Good rating on the way out.
