Buzzed: Lambeth Council to tackle road danger with new strategy set to be discussed at Cabinet meeting
“The borough has experienced a higher rate of road-related incidents compared to the rest of London”
A tease on the SAULT Insta account first thing on Sunday morning. I love it when they do this. There wasn’t a lot to go on - a single story frame with the character 1 repeated.
What could it all mean?
A new release, for sure. But when, and where? Given that SAULT offered up FIVE albums for free to download last year, I trust payment will be needed this time.
Pay the artist, etc.
They remain the most exciting music I’ve heard in the past decade. Impossible to classify, or even explain. It’s where all music in 2023 should be, if it wasn’t constrained by expectations.
I loaded up some ebay snipes for later in the day. Y’know, all the usual retro stuff. A Killing Joke CD, Scritti Politti’s first album on CD and a rather fetching traditional Surrey brown cap.
A then alerted to me to the shocking, saddening story coming out of the Fair City with the Panthers. The remainder of Sunday didn’t really get going for me.
I started to read a balanced BBC story about the death of Adam Johnson overnight. I couldn’t get past the first two paras. The detail, although approached with sensitivity, was too much to take in.
It’s been a long while since my face has seen the inside of the NIC - and even then I was cheering on another team other than the Panthers.
But I understand the closeness of the club; I appreciate the bravery involved in playing the sport to please a loyal fanbase.
This freak incident is the ultimate sacrifice.
Panthers is an organisation that has a history and tradition of being classy. There is so much healing to take place over the coming months. But I’m sure that the club won’t ever allow the overnight events to be forgotten.
A very sad, strange Sunday.
I turned to a little reading to try and distract me. The Reds and Rams book continues to fascinate.
David Marples has achieved the rare feat of being able to draw out some new Clough stories. I thought that I heard or read them all.
Marples makes the astute observation that Forest handed Clough the keys to the club, unlike D***y and Leeds. He was free from day one to do whatever he wanted at the World Famous City Ground.
If D****y and Leeds had showed the same level of trust then it might have been those two clubs that ended up with two stars on the badge.
The rain continued around the bloody Estuary Wilds. It led to a rather depressing Sunday, along with other events.
Forest away at Anfield didn’t exactly help. Having not won there for 54 years, then the 3-0 defeat should come as no surprise.
I was hoping to keep the score respectable. 3-0 is touch and go. Unless another swift turnaround comes our way, I can’t see the Big Greek Fella remaining patient with Steve Cooper for much longer.
A day to forget, if there ever is such a thing.
I can’t stop thinking about Adam Johnson and the Panthers family.
