Album of the Day: Bee Gees - Trafalgar

Ballads ahoy! These are belted out by the Bee Gees, with varying degrees of success. The timpani drums on Israel are bonkers. Any Trafalgar concept passed right over me. I preferred the album artwork to the actual songs. Music for a rainy work morning.

Album of the Day Extra: The Gun Club - Fire of Love

This album kicks you up the arse. It’s almost impossible to explain what’s going off here: Blues, rockabilly, punk. It could be confusing, but it’s so simple. The music matches the attitude. I wish this type of music was played on daytime radio. No let up. LOVE IT.

Buzzed: Lambeth hands out yet another lease extension for the loss making Pop #Brixton as the ‘Business Park for the 21st Century’ starts to wind down

“Lambeth keeps on extending the lease in the hope that Pop Brixton will actually deliver and turn around some profit for the Council”

Bloody Pop Brixton is the Buzz news story that keeps on giving. We’ll miss it when it’s gone.

Yeah, right.

Attila the Stockbroker is coming to Weird Wiv.

Woh.

I wasn’t expecting that. We used to watch Attila all around London, and then L******er before that. Actually, there’s even an almost lost memory of seeing him at the Sunny Colch Arts Centre back in our early 90’s student days.

And now Weird Wiv. It would be rude not to make the short walk down the road to The Nottage next month.

In Utility News: I submitted my latest metre reading. Yep, I’m a smart metre refusenik. Lucky me, I landed a free spin on the Wheel of Shit.

This usually ends up with tough luck, fella. Not so today:

“Congratulations! You’ve won £1 off your next bill!”

REJOICE! That should pay for another spin of the washing machine.

Gilles Peterson dropped some more Pharoah Sanders. This is sadly missing from my collection. A quick ebay search explained why. £20+ for most of his back catalogue on CD.

I spent a little time reading David Marple’s most excellent Reds and Rams book. I managed to burn through the first third of the Forest and D***y rivalry tale yesterday. I’ve so much to learn about Forest pre-1975.

Sleafrod fucking Mods’ More UK Grim was the soundtrack to keep me active for the afternoon work shifts.

I tried to offload my FUCK OFF cactus on ebay again. I need to sell it soon, else it will break through the kitchen roof.

Tuesday fizzled out with a lame attempt to edit pdfs without Adobe. I gave up in frustration.
