Aliens, Acholi music and a sentient suit of armour - yep, another early morning spent catching up with the wonderful Late Junction. There’s no other radio like it. And for good reason as well.
I had some school work to carry out with Canva. All I wanted to do was a simple resizing of an image from one social platform for another. This use to be built in to the Canva menu.
Now it’s hidden away under the Magic Menu AI inspired option. Everything seems to be magic these days. Apple isn’t shy from going down this route with iMovies. It assumes the user is as thick as pig shit.
Actually…
I had the first work shift using a new tool. It’s all about the online process, innit.
To Rowhedge! To see a man about an electric bike!
The Estuary Wilds weather was perfect to make the schlep around to the other side of the river. I decided on running the 8km circuit.
Being so close, yet so far is a real head fuck. I usually run circular routes. Your natural GPS tells you roughly how far you’ve been, and what you need to do to get back to where you started from.
Having a running route that starts within 50m of where I want to finish, yet still involves 8km of running is taking the piss.
It was the WivSoc riverbank clean up taking place along the Trail. It was good to see an ecargo bike being put to good use as the work mule for the morning.
The resurfacing of the Trail has held up well. If there was ever going to be adverse weather conditions that would test the gravel, then the past 48 hours have provided that.
Ten years ago and the Trail was pretty much impassable on bicycle from November through until February. It became a mud bath. There was very little surface water this morning.
I rocked up in Rowhedge, picked up the Raleigh electric, and then: To Sudbury!
This ride has been cursed for the past month or so. We’ve tried to make it, but the weather, work shifts and no available electric bike has led to an abandonment.
I’m beginning to wonder if Sudbury is worth all the effort.
The ride was demanding. I was on a mission to save energy. My Raleigh was showing three bars. I’d usually charge it when it reaches two. I rode without assistance whenever I could.
Guiding us around the rural north lanes was the Velo Beeline 2. It took us along one farm track, only for a bloody great big lake to appear across the road.
Time to turn around and a little auto rerouting.
The Beeline took us around in a circle, right to the other side of the bloody great big lake.
Oh dear.
With the roads looking unridable, and my lack of juice n the battery, we took the strategic decision to abandon Sudbury.
Again.
The afternoon was spent with another garden hack. The first FORK of the lawn this season took place.
In my AirPods was the latest Deserter pubcast. This always makes me want to BOOZE.
The flyover from a flock of Canadian Geese told me that the light was fading and it was time to quit.
Dotty came in later in the evening with another big fat rat lodged in her jaw. At least this time she didn’t deliver it to me whilst I was in bed.
