The plan for Saturday morning was to collect the Raleigh electric from Rowhedge. It’s been there for a week after a full service.

Getting across to the other side of the river is never straight forward. Plan A was for the ferry. But this was cancelled this weekend due to the weather.

Plan B was for me to make the 10km run all the way around and over to Rowhedge. I cancelled this plan because of the weather. I don’t mind running in the rain, but I ain’t taking the Raleigh electric out with even the slightest hint of rain.

I did manage a run around the University. It was the perfect conditions with warm air and light rain.

The run was uneventful. The highlight was seeing a couple of fellas playing on the revamped frisbee golf course.

The Postman Delivers: Django’s Django CD. I liked what I heard when the album appeared on the 1,001 list this week. I missed out on a lot of music between 2010-20.

To the University! For the Spooky Hoops basketball double header!

The Halloween themed ball game has become a highlight in the Rebels fixture calendar. Once again the organisation had made the effort with the Sports Arena decorated in Halloween tat.

I confess that my main interest was Forest at home to Luton back at the World Famous City Ground.

Forest Vs Luton holds happy memories. The 1989 League Cup Final at Wembley was an EPIC day out. The last time these two teams met in the top flight was thirty one years ago when Des Walker scored his one and only Forest goal.

We rocked up at the Sports Arena and took up our seats. And then… radio silence. My iPhone couldn’t pick up a signal for the Forest commentary.

Oh well.

This was the first game of the season for the elite women in the WBL. It was very much a new team for the Rebels with a lot of changes over the summer.

The opponents in London Lions was always going to be a tough opener. The Lions are dominant across the sport, both for women and men. Losing 73-100 was no great shame for the Rebels.

I fear that we saw Queen B, the Rebels mascot, unmasked ahead of the men taking to the court. We clocked a figure wearing civvies, dancing and bouncing around with the same infectious energy of Queen B.

Once seen, never forgotten.

The men found it hard work against Barking Abbey in the first two quarters. But then the visitors fell apart and Rebels turned up the pressure. They left the court with a 90-68 home win. I have high hopes for the men this season.

I caught up a little with Forest back at base. The “should win” has left many questions for the season ahead.

Football. Bloody hell.
