A change to the morning routine. Everyone needs a routine, etc. But sometimes you need to blow it apart.
I’ve become increasingly fed up with my morning news catch up from Radio Bloke. 5Live Breakfast is almost unlistenable these days.
BANTS! BANTS! BANTS!
No ta. I want five minutes of news, sport, weather and a possible run through of the newspaper headlines. It does my nut in with all the Gawblimey-ness first thing.
And so I switched to Radio 4. It fulfilled the news brief, but obvs not the sport. I’ll trial it for a few days.
No sport meant that I missed on the exiting news that Forest have got Burnley at home in the League Cup.
ALWAYS the League Cup.
Well that’s going to be a thriller.
I wasn’t aware that this is now a regional competition. Leicester, Leeds, erm, Mansfield were all there for the taking.
But nope, Burnley it is.
The fixtures came out for the Essex Blades American football team. Four at home for the whole year. That’s yer lot.
It takes an awful lot of organisation to arrange games that can include a 30+ squad of players, plus all the coaches. I think I’ll be spending a lot of time up on campus this autumn and with the Blades and Rebels basketball.
Album of the Day: Leonard Cohen - You Want It Darker
Leonard drops down another level here with the vocals. This is an album that has the passage of time running through it. The macabre subject matter isn’t hidden away from.
It got a little too deep for me. It made me question things that I’m not really ready to question right now. This is a cool version of Songs of Praise.

The Postman Delivers: A Flock of Seagulls compilation. I usually hate Greatest Hits. They just don’t hold together as an album.
But AFOS were a great singles band. This album surprisingly goes for around £10-£15. I picked it up for £3 from a seller who has previously failed to deliver. I took a gamble, job’s a good ‘un.
Buzzed: Lambeth in the top 3 of UK Councils for ramping up business rates over the past five years
Lambeth Labour went inti the 2022 local elections with the mantra of “On Your Side”
Those nice folk at the Serpentine Swimming Club mailed saying that swimming is now out of bounds.
Algae, innit.
Which is a pain. I was hopeful of a return in a few weeks time.
The GP hop hop binge continued. We’ve reached the 00’s. Roots Manuva. Woh. This led to a rather loud afternoon playing of the Run Come Save Me Album, and then an eBay snaffle of the Dub Come remix.
There. That will blast the Covid shit away, right?
In Covid Shit News: regular breathing is still a bit of a challenge. The dizziness is going. I doubt if my planned trip to The Oval in the morning will take place.
Covid shit is vile.
