Another decent start to the month on the Premium Bonds front. My CD buying spreadsheet was looking a little measly after last month. August has now got the go ahead to buy CD’s like it’s 1988 all over again.
Not so joyful this morning was Evernote. I’m being bombarded with a subscription pop up each time I try and access or edit a file. I fear the end is coming. I’m pleased that I’m prepared with a couple of alternatives lined up.
Album of the Day: The Pretenders - The Pretenders
An album mainly full of fillers, with only the singles really standing out. Harsh, but I’ve been brought up on the Best of The Pretenders. Private Life is fantastic. I didn’t realise the origins of this song.
It gets a little more in depth with the song writing on Lovers of Today. There’s a definite Pretenders sound with the bass and drums always deep in the mix. Not bad for a debut, but a little thin on the ground.

The Postman Delivers: the latest cycle uk magazine. It’s stuffed full of cycling pR0n. I bloody love fantasising over some of the bike tech ads.
There’s a review this month of the Gocycle g4 - which seems odd, seeing as though the model has been on the market for over a year.
The review is positive. It does little to dissuade me that a g4 would be the first thing I would turn to, should Mr Premium Bonds dishes out £4k to me next month.
The Digital Postman Delivers: my WTFC season ticket. My name was incorrect. I thought I had finally managed to convince everyone in my circle that my name isn’t Justin.
The Blur binge continued during the morning with 13. This is pretty trippy shit. It’s a million miles from the Gawblimey Britpop of five years earlier. Blur fascinate me in how they managed to evolve in such a short space of time.
It was batshit crazy weather out in the bloody Estuary Wilds all day. I was happy to stay in, earning.

Some Gilles Peterson catching up kept me company for the afternoon shifts. The recent History of Hip Hop series is superb. GP makes the connection between some 1920’s ragtime and blues with hip hop. Quite a stretch.
Chris Sullivan also adds some informative insights about the origins of UK Hip Hop.
The bloody Estuary Wilds rain continued all afternoon. It got too much for me. I buggered off back to Sunny Stockwell.
There. That’s better.
