A change in the early morning listening. I gave Serenade Radio a spin for the first time in a few months. I’m still a couple of generations off the demographic. But I like the early morning easy listening as I stack up the mugs of piping hot tea.
Julie London triggered a predictable eBay search. WHAT A GIRL! A minute later and the order was in for a triple CD.
My morning feeds threw up a half decent Athletic read about an alternative Forest universe. We lose the play-off final and are now fighting relegation in the Championship. It’s behind the paywall, but I do love a good alternative reality narrative.

I cycled off for a swim with a new bicycle bell. The cheap effort on my winter MTB has lost the spring in its step. The loud ping is now on par with a limp rattling of the outer bell shell.
I did buy a poncey bell for the Raleigh electric. But the thickness of the handlebar meant it was tricky to fit. No worries. The winter MTB now has the poncey bell telling everyone to get the fuck out of the way.

It was a windy ride towards the pool on the Trail. I can see why the sunrise row was cancelled in advance yesterday.
K was in the changing room. I’ve not caught up with him in months. I do enjoy our chats; K does love a good old natter. The only trouble is that I’m usually dashing ahead of work shifts. I made my excuses and headed off into the pool.
It was with perfect timing. I managed to blag a lane to myself for the forty lengths. I’m back on track with my pace. I ducked just under seventeen minutes.
Back at base and Robert Elms opened on BBC London with It’s A Family Affair.
TUNE!
“Newly wed, still checking each other out.”
Yeah.
The Postman Delivers: six CD’s, all new, all freshly sealed and box fresh. Now is a bloody good time to buy up CD’s.

Elms was on top form. Friday means Notes & Queries. It’s the Bob Elms Show at its best.
One query was about an old London geezer, Lenny Apples Applegate. The second query asked about a Kickers shop in Kentish Town in the late 1970’s where the shop staff wore roller skates and flashing helmets.
By the end of the show a family member of the now sadly passed Lenny Apples Applegate has called in, as well as the manageress of the BONKERS Kentish Town Kickers shop.
The weekly email from Surrey Cricket had a call out asking Members’ what being at The Oval means for them in their retirement. I forwarded it on to A…
Album of the Day: Miles Davis - In A Silent Way
This sounded like The Doors, but without the boring knob chanting mystical bullshit at the front of the stage. I really quite enjoyed it. It helped that half a bottle of red had been sunk before Miles got to blow his stuff. But then that’s Jazz, YEAH?
⭐ ⭐ ⭐
The BBC Nottingham weekend preview was great. Stan was talking all things Forest. His time at the World Famous City Ground may have been brief, but he was the best player we’ve ever seen at Trentside.
There was much excitement ahead of the Leigh Wood fight at the Ice Arena tomorrow.
I finally won the Strummer CD I’ve been after. F-YOU with your £5 price, fella. I found a 99p sale instead.
We watched the first episode from season 3 of Picard.
Make it so, etc.
