Curiosity on the Corner
It has taken a week or so to find a convenient time for a friendly chat with the good folk at Curiosity, the recently opened second-hand goods shop on the corner of Station Road in Wivenhoe. Nothing to do with slackness, simply that Fiona and her partner have always been incredibly busy whenever I’ve passed by. This is an encouraging sign.
To describe the delights that can be found in store wouldn’t really do justice to the incredible range of stock that is sold. Wivenhoe locals simply need to have a look around, and then find something unique to fit their own tastes and household.
The stock has a high turnover - a combination of the friendly prices, and the choice of items that are on sale. As Fiona explains in the video above, items are sourced very much with Wivenhoe and its unique characteristics in mind.
But it’s not just a place in which the proprietors can sell on the items. Keeping in tradition with the artistic flair in the town, Curiosity offers window or cabinet space for local artists to display and sell their work. A number of paintings currently hang, as well as some well-stocked cabinets proudly displaying the work of local designers.
A valuation service is also offered. Fiona and her partner are happy to advise on the best way to sell any item you have, be it within the shop, online or at auction elsewhere.
As I found out through my various poppings in and poppings out, Curiosity is very much open for business, and open for a chat. Drop by, have a browse and *maybe* come up with a local themed name for the wooden sculpture chap that keeps watch along the corner.
Curiosity is open Wednesday – Sunday, 10 – 4. New stock often appears on the Facebook page.
