With the Wivenhoe Christmas decorations starting to show premature signs of an appearance around selected locations within the town, it was with apt timing that the Wivenhoe Society Craft Fair was in full flow at the William Loveless Hall on Saturday
Half an hour later of browsing, gossiping and spending, I headed back to base with Christmas presents already bought for various nephews and nieces. All sourced locally as well.
Sorted.
The local artists and crafty types were out in force. With all the floor space taken up, it was encouraging to see the depth of local creativity on show. Jewellery, stain glass, wooden crafts, knitting, cooking - if you couldn’t find some form of craft to take you fancy, then you were indeed a crafty (and tight) so and so.
My own creativity centred around buying ticket for the Wivenhoe Society Wine Tasting evening on the 19th. I pride myself on this particular craft, and it seemed rude not to walk away from the offer of a couple of tickets.
I had a charming chat with the lovely ladies from Wivenhoe in Bloom. I volunteered information about the proposed One Million Flowers project from our friends down the road at Colchester in Bloom. Anything you can do, we can do better, etc
Bloomin’ marvellous.
