It may not keep away the spirits of Wivenhoe, but hopefully it will see off the over friendly cat that keeps on popping through the flap left by the previous owners. Something went a little wrong in the carving out my Wivenhoe lantern. He looks a dead ringer for Boy Y back at one of my schools.

Speaking of things that you are least expecting - don’t forgot the screening of Ghostbusters down by the Quay, 6pm on Sunday evening. With involvement from the wonderful Transition Town Wivenhoe, the film is brought to you by the Revultionary Cycled Power Cinema, Comrades.

There’s also a ghost story telling evening later on in The Greyhound, with involvement from the ace Martin Newell, the pop genius of this parish.

I would take my lantern along, but I fear the little fella is more suited to Comic Relief.
