To Broad Lane! For the latest instalment of Wivenhoe Town Vs Gawd knows who!
I walked it rather than cycle it. I’m still not allowed any exercise for a further three weeks. I arrived on time ahead of KO for the first time in five years.
There was a well respected minutes silence at 3pm. It was peaceful, apart from the Essex boy racer who revved up his shitty car along the side of the ground as Broad Lane was trying to pay its collective respect.
Swaffham Town won the toss and decided to swap ends. This disrupted my usual matchday OCD routine. I wasn’t alone in feeling a little out of sync.
The Dragons had no centre halves available My man on the inside tipped me off that player holidays were the main reason. It didn’t help that the visitors had a BULLY BOY muscle man up front who barged his way down the centre of pitch throughout the match.
Shout out to the Grandad Lino. He had more fitness in his frame than I have right now.
Bright sun characterised the first half. Long shadows made for some decent photography conditions.
The floodlights came on for the second half, soon to be followed by a red card for the Dragons. A 2-1 home defeat was disappointing.
