Rowhedge to Wivenhoe Walk

To Rowhedge! On the Raleigh electrics!

Both bicycles were in need of a service. A new specialist electric bicycle shop has recently emerged on the other side of the river.

Time to take a trip.

ALL the way around the Muddy Banks of the Colne.

Time and tide wasn’t fortunate for the ferry this weekend. Low water meant that we had to cycle the 10km or so to cross the river.

It was pleasant enough with little early morning traffic. We reached Destination Rowhedge in brilliant blue sunshine.

The bicycle shop was decent. The friendly fella turned out to be a Stags fan. He dropped the “NOTTS Forest” into the conversation. I suspect this was deliberate.

Servicing an electric bicycle can be fiddly. A quick assessment took place. I’ve clocked up close to 3,000km since the last service in Ipswich at the start of spring.

We agreed to leave the bicycles in Rowhedge for collection later in the week.

Just one thing: how do we get back to Weird Wiv?

There was only one option: walk.

I took the opportunity to have a major shoot with the PEN F. I’ve not used it for a couple of weeks.

The walk wasn’t that bad - 8km in total. There was plenty of other walkers, runners and cyclists along the river path. We pressed on and made decent progress with the podcast download list.

A new reclamation yard has appeared down at the Hythe since we last walked the route. A brief shifty followed. They appear to be well stocked.

I ran the photos through a basic Pixillion script back at base. I’m still trying out various alts for BIMP in GIMP.

I’m not convinced with the colours I’m getting. Lush greens are having a red rue appearing in the output files. It should be fine for school, but probably not for a mid-summer cricket wicket.
