A bonus day at The Oval. The Weather Gods said: NO CHUFFING CHANCE.
Never trust the Weather Gods.
We actually managed an uninterrupted full morning session. The teams came out of the hutch after luncheon, and then quickly headed back in about half an hour later as the covers came on.
Northamptonshire were resilient in batting, if not adventurous. The plan is clearly to frustrate Surrey as we close down on a second consecutive Championship.
I disappeared into central London during the rain delay. I returned a couple of hours later having only missed one wicket.
The dastardly Weather Gods are trying to talk down the chances of play in the morning. Surrey could do with at least three days of cricket to wrap up this Championship.
Playing red ball cricket in the third week of September is BONKERS, btw.
Stick yer stupid Hundred.
