A brief roll out around the lanes ahead of work shifts on Wednesday morning. It was cooler than the forecast had led me to believe. Three layers on top, and I still struggled to warm up. The aroma of Estuary Wilds manure in my nasal passage soon woke me up, mind.
Lockdown traffic on the roads was BONKERS. Lockdown, Wot Lockdown etc? People need to be out and about for many different reasons. But it did seem business as normal out on the roads.
I chose to experiment with the route. The Elmstead jump junction remains closed. I didn’t fancy the footpath along the dual carriageway. I kept on cycling, past the cat rescue and all the way to… the Greenstead. It wasn’t the most scenic of entrances back home. But it did take me back to my student days.
I got my road line completely wrong down a particularly steep hill. I had to crossover to the other side of the road to avoid a fall. Thankfully no incoming traffic. There’s no such thing as a bad ride, but I wouldn’t rate this roll out in my Top 10.
