Dampness in the SW8 skies first thing on Friday morning.

And so no lovely lido purification, but a run around Clap’ham Common instead.

This was my Route of KINGS back in the day. Every Saturday, and then a hobble around on a Sunday morning as well.

The precise geographic markings may not have changed, but WOH: Clap’ham is a very different beast to twenty years ago.

Clap’ham is a very different beast to three years ago tbh.

I didn’t take much of it in. I just wanted to get around the Common in one piece, and then be cleaned up in time for the first school day back in SW9.

I’m always a little nervous at the start of any term. I made the short walk from South Lambeth Road to the school gates.

Heads down…

I needn’t have worried.

It was ACE greeting old friends after the long break.

The SW9 school is growing. Pupil numbers are expanding with a large Year 7 intake, and a Year 13 for the first time.

I had work to do…

I’ve started experimenting by turning off all notifications on my phone throughout the day.

My working day is all the more better for it.

Many activities followed: ceramics, maths arrays and Argos shopping.

LOVE that school.

Boy Y greeted me for the first time after the summer break.

He ran enthusiastically towards me, waved his hands in horror and shouted:

I was bloody knackered at the end of the day.

I walked back through Sunny Stockwell, and then spent the next hour or so recuperating with mugs of hot tea.

My ROCK ‘N’ ROLL Friday evening was spent editing and publishing school content.
