Another hit and run Transpontine working day.

The South Lambeth Road flat will be finished soon. At least that’s what I keep on telling myself.

It was a leisurely bicycle ride on the Brompton over London Bridge. Soon I was back on home turf in Sunny Stockwell.

But the kids weren’t there.

The whole reason for a SW9 school day was Sports Day. I thought that it was taking place in the afternoon. But it was an all dayer.

I cycled on to Dulwich Sports Ground, the location for the events throughout the day.

Sunny #Stockwell, innit

Boy – it was GRUELLING.

But so much fun.

There is no hiding place at times like these. You either sulk on the sidelines and melt in the heat, or just bloody get on wth it.

Just bloody getting on with it as actually ACE fun.

I had a brilliant day. I snapped away and shot loads of video. I even took part in the staff 60m sprint at the end of the day.

The protocol is for the kids on the sideline to cheer on their fave staff member.

No one cheered my name 🙁

I finished towards the rear of the pack.

That’s the polite way of putting it.

The average staff age is around 25. I felt very old.

It’s the taking part that counts, Jase…

Sports Day came to a close. The kids were bused back to Sunny Stockwell.

I was on the Brompton. I stopped off for a cheeky lovely lido clean up. I had no time for a swim, but my lido membership paid for itself with a cold shower.

A little more school work back in SW9, and then I had to cycle back to LS and back to bloody *over there.*

Oh dear.

I returned to a less steamy NE Essex. Anna wasn’t far behind on a later train.

The garden was watered, along with Daisy.

They're a right pair

I then dived in the shower and savoured the moment.

Video content from Sports Day was edited.

I’m quite pleased with what I shot. I tried a new technique of zooming in, rather than default settings. It’s worked out rather well for the sprint races.

As ever the secret here is to over shoot. It was bloody hard (and hot) work out there in the field. But shoot, snap and scribble as much as you can. You need the content in order to dismiss any of the crap later.

Test match cricket, Le Tour and Wimbledon catch ups followed.

Let’s do it all again South Ldn tomorrow.

Choo choo.
