A launch date and programme schedule is now in place for Radio Wivenhoe – hurrah!

Starting off this new venture in hyperlocal broadcasting will be Radio Wivenhoe head honcho Jerry Davis, alongside Mr Mule from 6pm on Friday 8th July. An introduction to what lies ahead is planned with details of the shows coming up being broadcast.

The local Wivenhoe programming continues throughout the weekend. Highlights include Mercedes Mussard (ACE radio name) interviewing Angie Diggens and the ADP cast (Saturday, 4pm,) a sports report on the recent Wivenhoe Town FC Vs Arsenal match (Sunday, 10am) and Wiv Chat with Jason Cobb (Sunday, 9pm.)

Blimey.

All of my local Wivenhoe shows are pre-recorded. I figured out that this would work best to relax the guests, as well as avoiding the logistics of restricting them to a specific interview time.

Five have been recorded to date, with a sixth scheduled for early Thursday evening. I’m not sure which show will be broadcast first. Jingles and relevant music have been added to my existing audio.

Further local programming continues throughout next week. We are very aware that Radio Wivenhoe is something of a brave new venture for all those involved. It is a learning process, and one which hopefully will lead to the greater prize of a permanent local community FM licence.
