Getting Sloshed in Square 3
Billed as a Great British Fete taking place @Uni_of_Essex over the Royal Wedding Bank Holiday weekend, it was pleasing to see in Square 3 the carnage of a p*** up taking place.
Actually, that’s rather unfair. Sunshine, a Bank Holiday weekend and the calm before the storm of student exams – what did you expect?
The event coincided with the Alumni sporting weekend. With my old Essex / South London pal Knob Rot returning to these parts for the sporting weekend, at least there was some symmetry to @AnnaJCowen and I also returning to campus some twenty years since our own carnage of a p*** up taking place, etc.
But it wasn’t all about the booze. A rather ace old skool punk vinyl stall was in place, where I could have quite happily passed away the entire afternoon perusing.
More traditional British Fete activities such as a tombala, a bobbing apple stall and a splat the rat game were also in place.
Pints however seemed to be the main focus for celebrating all that is great about Great Britain.
I’ll drink to that. But probably not back in Square 3.
