Wivenhoe House Guests

Here’s something that is probably best described as: being *very* Wivenhoe…
Do you want a man sticking his face into an old tuba whilst wearing a pair of Y-fronts to sit down and entertain you around your Wivenhoe dining table?
Um…
Actually, this really could be rather ace. Local impresario (seriously) and all round Wivenhoe Panto supremo, @MatthewLinley, is bringing over a Croatian theatrical troupe as part of his demanding day job.
Dates have been booked up at the Lakeside Theatre, as well as performances at the Arts Centre, Ipswich and London. The House of Extreme Musical Theatre would not only like Wivenhoe locals to come along and see them perform, but they would also be most grateful if any kind folk could house them during their local stay.
Ten artists (not all necessarily wearing Y-fronts and blowing into brass instruments) are after a Wivenhoe roof over their heads. They will be staying around our town (hopefully) from the 10th – 14th May.
Matt has put the call out for some friendly local faces to help out our Croatian guests. It needn’t be the five night run – one night would certainly help. You might even feel generous and be able to put up more than one Y-front artist extraordinaire.
This is very much a meet ‘n greet experience, and not simply accommodation on the cheap. A small budget is available to cover your costs, but more importantly, any host family will be enriched (aha!) by the whole experience.
The group is very left of centre, Matt assures me, and certainly have the something of a Wivenhoe spirit about the gills. There may even be some mileage in generating some press stories. Remember when the Americans came “on vacation” to Wivenhoe? What about the bonkers Croatian theatrical troupe that the locals liked so much, they gave them B & B?
Free tickets are of course also on offer, not to mention something of a very personal in-house artistic experience for any host family. It’s a shame that the dates just miss the May Fair, but there is possibly the scope for some form of performance locally in the town as a thank you.

Thanks for the plug! Despite the underpants the company are quite extraordinary – you can see more pics on my blog over here http://matthewlinley.wordpress.com/2010/11/21/cepheus-slide-show/
and here is the show copy to (hopefully) whet your appetite…
Zagreb 1912 and students are rising against the Empire of the Two Headed Eagle.
Spring 2011 and leading Croatian Theatrical Innovators The House of Extreme Music Theatre explore the revolutionaries story to create a viusal and sound world which could be both 1912 and 2011.
Surprising, stimulating and provocative – European Theatre at its best!
The way the tour falls it’s great we’re being able to base the company in one place for five days – so really hoping Wivenhoe (and Colchester) will give them a very warm welcome! And as Jason says if your interested in putting one of the company up please do get in touch on matthew@matthewlinley.com
