Booking in at the Bookshop

In what is proving to be something of a good ‘ol cut ‘n paste week around these parts [um, blame work...] and THIS JUST IN from Wivenhoe’s finest bookshop:

An American Tale for Winter.

“Set in chilly Massachusetts, this Edith Wharton novella of 1911 tells the story of isolated characters and, as the heat of the relationship between them develops, the tragedy that unites them. Faith Ressmeyer, recently retired and keen to attract all-comers to a good read, will lead an informal study of the book in six sessions at Wivenhoe Bookshop in the New Year.

Sessions will take place on Thursday mornings from 10 – 11.30 am, beginning Jan 27th 2011, and ending on March 3rd. Included in the fee of £42 is a copy of the book; a screening of the film; tea, coffee and homemade biscuits or cake, and a warm room to meet in and talk about the story. Numbers will be limited so sign up in the bookshop soon.”

Meanwhile…

A weekend awaits of wine tasting with the lovely folk of the Wivenhoe Society (chin chin,) bird watching down towards the Creek (seriously excited) and an interview with this chap who has recently taken up residency down towards the Quay.

Splendid.

Plus don’t forget the rather subversive screening of Four Lions by Moving Image at the Philip Road Centre, Saturday evening. Probably not one for the kids…

The cut ‘n paste approach to blogging will hopefully throw up something more original over the coming days.

Have a good one.
